F.A.Q

Frequently Asked Questions

I am not strong! Do I need any dance/gym experience to learn aerial arts?

Absolutely not! And in fact, that’s why we’re here! Fantasy Fitness and Dance was born from the realisation that there was nowhere in Perth for beginners to learn Aerial Arts. The vast majority of Fantasy students had never tried aerial arts before enrolling at Fantasy Fitness and Dance. Fantasy trains students of all fitness levels, from having not walked into a gym in years, to Personal Trainers and fitness professionals!

Do you have flexible payment options?

Of course we do! Everyone deserves to learn Aerial Arts in a safe, purpose-built, state-of- the-art facility. We have fortnightly automatic recurring debit options available all year round, regardless of where we are during the term*.
**automatic recurring debits are offered as part of a Fixed Term Agreement only.**

I am a shift/FIFO worker. What if I can not commit to the same time each week?

Not a worry at all! Fantasy Fitness and Dance caters to everyone – we have Private Lesson Programs and Packages which enable you to book your lessons as you go! You can even pay by recurring fortnightly debits**. If you need flexibility, Fantasy has got you covered!

Can I have a free trial?

If you are unsure whether or not you will enjoy Aerial Arts, the best way to find out is to try it out! It’s for this reason that Fantasy offers Private Lessons from as little as $35.00ea* for you to try any apparatus before you enrol in a program! This way you have your own, personal, dedicated instructor who is able to answer all your aerial training-related questions, and maybe even show you a demo of what is to come in your higher levels! We do not offer a free, drop in trial as we found that students who ‘dropped-in’ to existing course classes alongside current students were often left feeling as though they “couldn’t do it”. Providing a personalised, private trial means you have a variety of apparatus to try if you like, so you join the right program for you!
**$35.00ea is for 30-min Private Lesson for 2 people, try any apparatus you like with a friend for only $35.00 each!**

Will I have to share an apparatus with my classmates?

No! Fantasy is super proud to be the ONLY Aerial Studio in Western Australia that can GUARANTEE you your own apparatus for all your course work. No sharing or waiting for equipment.

How should I prepare for class?

  • Please wear leggings below the knee, a fitted singlet or top. Make sure your attire has no zips or plastic or metal parts.

What is involved in an aerial art class?

Every class begins with a proper warm-up and ends with a brief cool-down. During the class your Instructor will demonstrate and teach the trick you will be training to learn. You will be instructed to perform certain movements or skills on the Aerial apparatus, with the aim of conditioning your body in preparation for the trick. Finally, you will attempt to perform the trick that was demonstrated for you under the careful supervision of your expert Instructor. Don’t worry if you don’t get the trick straight away; next week there will be revision! The Fantasy Syllabus is very progressive, and is designed to teach you over the period of each 6 week level, building a routine for you to perform in week 6!

The term has already started. Can I still join right now?

Fantasy takes new students year-round, regardless of where we are during the term. We have a late-enrollment pathway which means you can catch up with your classmates and join the course, without missing any important skills.

My goal is to perform. Can I get to this level at Fantasy Fitness and Dance Studio?

Absolutely! Some past Fantasy students have gone on to perform professionally in Australia and on contract overseas. Our expert Instructors currently perform professionally with Fantasy Performance Company, around Perth and overseas. If you are serious about performing, start with our Student Showcase. This is our annual, non-compulsory Student Performance opportunity. You have the chance to perform a polished routine onstage in costume in a theatre for your family and friends! Please keep up your course training! Our syllabus in each apparatus progresses through Beginners levels 1, 2, 3, Intermediate levels 1,2, 3, Advanced levels 1,2,3 and reaches Performance level. Performance level consists of the ultimate, show-stopping tricks on any apparatus, and focuses on creating 5 minute, high level routines. Students in our Performance level courses are offered professional performance opportunities with our Performance Company. Performance level students offered a place in our Fantasy Performance Company are expected to keep up their aerial arts training in their program. Aerial Arts (just like any other special skill) takes months to learn, and years to master!
